When I trained as an engineer, ego trips were 'no go' areas, just because the power was there didn't mean that it had to be used. If it was cheaper to use a 50p chip to do a job, albeit that only 10% of that chips capacity was utalised, so be it, just don't go looking for for something the other 90% to do.
